Rock For Life Netcast   Feature: Interview with Bobby Schindler, Disability Rights and Pro-Life Advocate Erik, Jeff & Kortney interview Bobby Schindler, Disability and Pro-Life Advocate, part of the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation and co-host of America's Lifeline In February of 1990 Bobby's sister, Terri Schiavo, suddenly collapsed and was left with a brain injury. Terri's estranged husband sought court permission to starve and dehydrate her to death, propelling Bobby into speaking in defense of his sister's life on numerous national television and radio programs. Following Terri's awful death on March 31, 2005, Bobby gave up his teaching job and became a full-time pro-life and disability rights advocate. Since then, he has spoken extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, telling the truth about Terri's story and challenging the public to educate themselves regarding the dangers of euthanasia. He's also been asked to testify before state legislatures concerning the protection of the medically vulnerable. He and his family have authored the book A Life That Matters, about their decade long struggle to care for his sister Terri, and they started the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation. Bobby is also the co-host on America's Lifeline, a weekly radio program covering such topics as euthanasia, futile care and assisted suicide. Flipsyde's Happy Birthday video continues to go viral http://www.rockforlife.org/blog.php?id=2962 2010-03-04 10:49:00 A few years ago Interscope Records signed and produced an upcoming hip hop artist named Flipsyde, which is fronted by lead rapper "Jinho "The Piper" Ferreria.  Flipsyde has started their career off with a bang as they extensively toured with rock hip hop artists "Fort Minor" as well as pop hip hop sensations "The Black Eyed Peas" as well as rap king "Snoop Dogg".  Besides there colorful touring schedule - Flipsyde received some great branding when NBC chose their song "Someday" as the official theme song for the Olympics in 2006.  The three singles that exploded from the Flipsyde camp included a song called "Happy Birthday".  In fact, the Washington Post said this was the best hip hop CD of 2006 based on those three singles.  They have followed up with some other singles which have been featured with pride on several TV and Movie soundtracks. Unfortunately, as they came strong into 2009, Interscope Records  dropped them from their lineup, perhaps due to the recession of sales in the music industry, however, the song "Happy Birthday" has continued to go viral on youtube.com to new success levels even as the band entertains a label-void absence. The Happy Birthday Song Featured the renowned russian female duo T.A.T.U (Tattoo).  This song was Flpsyde's second radio single which hit the air waves December 27, 2005.  It deals with the lead rapper, "The Piper", as he works through regretting his role in an abortion. Click here to read our original blog with our thoughts on the video (you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page).  Like I said this song is a little old now, but it is still progressing to go Viral so I felt like highlighting this song to you guys that may have not ever heard it, because of it's strength and voice. Share your thoughts on this song, and if you are a musician - we would love to hear your voice and story in a pro-life song... American Idol, StayTeen.Org & Planned Parenthood http://www.rockforlife.org/blog.php?id=2960 2010-03-03 16:56:00 By Kortney Blythe While watching American Idol, a commercial came on that caught my attention. An amateurish-looking home video showed two giddy, laughing teenage girls jumping on a trampoline, acting goofy. Then a voiceover said: “I love my life. I’m not gonna mess it up with a pregnancy.” And a web site flashed on the screen: Stayteen.org. Being the abortion abolitionist I am, I immediately opened my laptop to check it out. At first, I was pleasantly surprised. The web site, which is funded by a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families, strongly advised waiting to have sex. Among the various messages were myths about sex, lists of compelling reasons why abstinence is best and even a mention of how TV and movies portray sex as having no repercussions. In addition, they impressively differentiated between lust and love, and recognized the physical and emotional consequences attached to sex. According to their bullet points, not everybody is doing it. Nearly 70 percent of teens wish they had waited to have sex and 94 percent want a strong abstinence message. But, as I expected, that was the end of the good news. After leaving the “abstinence” section and perusing the rest of the site, I came upon the “help and advice” section. Who took the top spot under the first three resource topics? Planned Parenthood. Yes, that bastion of abortion, libertine sex (for the young and old) and the undermining of parents and purity. To appease parents and the general public, Planned Parenthood occasionally uses the word abstinence in their propaganda. But when mentioned, it is nearly always followed with a “but” and some nonsense about realizing how unrealistic it is; thus undermining the whole purpose of promoting it.  It’s disturbingly contradictory for a web site that claims to want to prevent teen pregnancy and promote abstinence to send young people to Planned Parenthood for questions about “sex, protection, contraception…STDs…[and] emergency contraception.” Once again, our government (and whoever else was involved in this site) fails to grasp the mixed messages they are sending to kids when they view such a web site. A show like American Idol is watched by families with kids of varying ages. Many of them will visit StayTeen.org because of the captivating commercial. Unfortunately, the site perpetuates the false message that “abstinence is good, but since it’s probably not realistic, use contraception.” Until parents start consistently teaching their children and teens lifelong chastity, the rates of teen pregnancy, STDs and premarital sex at younger and younger ages will continue to rise. No amount of confusing web sites will change the statistics. PCTC Recap - NPLTW shirts a smashing success! http://www.rockforlife.org/blog.php?id=2959 2010-03-03 12:41:00 Every year Rock for Life travels to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to spread the personhood message to youth attending the Pennsylvania Christian Teens Convention (PCTC).  Attendees are mainly High School students, Junior High School and Middle school students along with Parents or youth pastors serving as chaperones.  The youth travel from not only all over Pennsylvania but also from Maryland, Deleware and even Virginia. Although most youth here are generally pro-life, Rock for Life provides an opportunity for them to gain more knowledge, get equipped with pro-life t-shirts, sweatshirts and buttons as well as educational brochures. One of the biggest hits at PCTC was the interest in National Pro-Life T-shirt Week.  The shirts are only $6.50 plus the event gives the youth an opportunity to join tens of thousands of youth all across the country who participate as well. One of the most common statements I heard at PCTC is, "I couldn't wear that at my school."  Of course hearing that gives me an opportunity to educate them on the fact that - YES YOU CAN!  The US Supreme Court has already decided that public school students have a right to free speech.  We partner with the Thomas More Law Society to offer assistance to any public school student whose free speech rights have been infringed upon.  For more information on your rights and what to do if harassed click here.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by and all those you prayerfully and financially gave to us to be able to attend PCTC.  See you there next year! Tuesday was one of those days for me. The news reporter was reporting on the "40 Days for Life" Campaign. First, he narrates it as the "Forty Days to Life Campaign." Then, he makes the statement that a big counter protest is happening. Really, it is just one young adult with an "I (Heart) Abortion" sign and a couple coat hangers.  The newscaster continues to talk for the next two minutes or so while interviewing the only counter-protester, acting as if this is somehow big news.  In fact, you can't even read the counter protester's sign because it's dark. To top it all off, the abortion supporter says he is standing for women's rights and against those he believes are trying to oppress women's rights. But as he makes his statement, the camera shows there are no women with him! However, across the street are the "40 Days for Life" group, which just happens to be mostly made up of women.  Pro-lifers are constantly being told that we are all just a bunch of oppressive males. It's time to wake up and realize where the majority of women are and who are the leading voices against abortion. Really, you just need to watch this video to get a grasp of it, and then listen to the latest Rock for Life Netcast to hear our thoughts and insights. Then, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below. For your information: 40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program:  Prayer and fasting  Constant vigil  Community outreach. 40 Days for Life takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion in America. February Action Items http://www.rockforlife.org/blog.php?id=2944 2010-02-19 13:48:00 After a busy January, which included Training and Activism Week in addition to the D.C. pro-life march and thousands of pro-life marches in cities across the nation, plus many churches participating in Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, it's a new month. Whew! February is Black History Month. As you may know, abortion is the #1 killer of African-American persons. Planned Parenthood was founded with a racist agenda, and continues to wipe out the African American community to this day. Use this entire month to educate your peers and those celebrating Black History Month. Explain that they may be mourning the black race as "history" if the current death toll continues. Currently, a black baby has a 50 percent chance of being killed in the womb. This is horrifying. Visit the Black Genocide/L.E.A.R.N site, Klanned Parenthood and Issues4Life to educate yourself on the staggering facts. Listen to our recent netcast featuring an interview with Walter Hoye, a leader in the black pro-life movement. Watch Maafa 21 and host screenings of the film at your home, school, church or community center.  Most likely, the weather is cold in your area, so wear a pro-life hoodie and stay warm while sending a message. You can choose from many different styles, colors and messages. If you have any questions about your constitutionally-protected right to wear pro-life gear in school, contact us. 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign begins February 17. If a campaign is going on in your area, take part! If there isn't one in your city, look into starting one.   Preparing for March Action Items March 31 marks Terri's Day, an "International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters." Withholding basic needs, such as food and water, from brain damaged or comatose people is becoming alarmingly common. As pro-lifers, we must also fight this aspect of the culture of death.  In preparation for March's action items, order brochures from ALL's pro-life store. We'd recommend "On Understanding Brain Death" and "Euthanasia and You." March is also home to Spring Break for many students. While you're swimming at the beach and hanging out with friends, remember to promote purity in thought and action. Planned Parenthood, 'Text4Baby' & Hypocrisy http://www.rockforlife.org/blog.php?id=2938 2010-02-17 16:48:00 Planned Parenthood’s Attempt at Distancing Itself from Abortion by Promoting ‘Text4Baby’ Only Exposes The Hypocrisy By Kortney Blythe   I recently received a tweet that Planned Parenthood had partnered with the new Text4Baby program, “a free mobile information service designed to promote maternal and child health.” Anyone who signs up will receive tips and facts about the stages of pregnancy by text message each week.   So, of course, I signed up to see what kind of messages Planned Parenthood would approve of concerning prenatal development. To my surprise, after the introductory, congratulatory message, the following message was, “Your baby is growing a lot this week! Baby is now the size of a lime & can open its mouth & move its tiny hands.” The next message recommended prenatal vitamins. A few days later a message stressed the importance of avoiding drugs, alcohol and smoking, and referred to the child as a “she” instead of “it.”   Now, wait a minute. Why would Planned Parenthood partner with the National Healthy Mothers, Health Babies Coalition (HMHB) on a project, which admits that a preborn child has tiny hands, a mouth and a specific gender? According to PP’s own employees, a preborn person is not a baby.   If you’ve seen pictures of aborted babies, you know that the very abortions performed inside Planned Parenthood mills violently chop off limbs leaving those ‘tiny hands’ lifeless and bloody. What about “my body, my choice”? Shouldn’t the pregnant women receiving the texts be able to imbibe whatever chemicals they want regardless of the effects on their children or mass of tissue (whatever it is they’re pregnant with)?   Sponsoring this Text4Baby project are groups such as The March of Dimes, Johnson & Johnson, MTV and the U.S. government. Unfortunately, The March of Dimes takes the cowardly and contradictory “neutral” position on abortion. Johnson & Johnson financially supports Planned Parenthood and their evil agenda. MTV is the largest corporate supporter of PP. Its TV shows and public service announcements push the same immoral sexual messages. Do I even need to explain how the U.S. government fits into this equation? I’ll list a few: Decriminalizing abortion, subsidizing abortion, birth control and ineffective, so-called comprehensive sex education with taxpayer money, working with population control groups that support one-child policies and forced sterilization, etc.   The Text4Baby service is a good idea. The problem is those involved in the project are hypocrites, and their hypocrisy is not just a character flaw, it’s a fatal flaw. Either the human being in the womb is a baby, who should be protected from harmful chemicals and given the best chance at a healthy life, or he/she is not, and it’s fine to rid one’s body of such a parasite. PP knows that its reputation is plummeting with the rising number of those opposed to abortion. This partnership is simply a public relations attempt to counterbalance the public’s perception and downplay its most lucrative baby-killing business. “Look,” PP can say, “we care about babies, too!”   If PP were to be honest, its version of the program would be called “Text4Termination,” and it would look something like this:   Welcome to Text4Termination! Planned Parenthood would be happy to remove the fetal tissue from your womb.   This is the right choice for you. We’ll get rid of the problem pregnancy for only $500! If you’re a minority, you get the Margaret Sanger special.   Underage and impregnated by a much older boyfriend/teacher/family member? Don’t worry, we cover up statutory rape or incest for free!   No amount of partnering with baby-friendly organizations will change the fact that PP is the number one performer of in-utero genocide. It is utter lies and hypocrisy to claim you care about the health of children while at the same time wiping them out by the thousands. Although, he says, he’s always been pro-life – voting for only pro-life candidates, posting pro-life newsletters on social networks, etc. – he felt a tug to do more. He explained: “I have known about Rock for Life for a few years. I have always admired how they stood up for unborn babies. I thought to myself, ‘I really need to get involved with this group.’ But for some reason or another, I never put my thoughts into action, until now.” While browsing through the Rock for Life site, he noticed the “start a chapter” section. And that’s what he did. “Now I am really excited to put my pro-life thoughts into action. I want to counteract whatever Planned Parenthood does to promote abortion. Abortion on TV: Friday Night Lights http://www.rockforlife.org/blog.php?id=2928 2010-02-09 16:45:00 by Kortney Blythe Sarah Seltzer, a regular blogger on the rabidly pro-abortion web site RH Reality Check, just posted raving reviews about an episode of the TV show Friday Night Lights in which a character gets an abortion. I’ve previously discussed how more TV shows are depicting young people rejecting abortion in favor of adoption or raising the child. Meanwhile, abortion advocates grumble over what they see as a stigma surrounding abortion on TV. They just can’t stand to see characters actually make the right decision for their child.   Instead, Seltzer would rather a show “break that barrier” by “depicting a character having an abortion in a very nonpolitical, personal way … [one who] arrive[s] at this decision from an honest, intensely personal, non-ideological standpoint.”   First, abortion is not a political issue; it’s a human rights violation. Second, no amount of gushy words like “honest” or “personal” can cover up the brutal truth—they’re talking about dismembering a baby. And that barrier she wants broken is people’s natural tendency to feel—at the very least—discomfort, but more often disgust, over abortion. She wants to desensitize the majority of Americans who have conscionable objections to the slaughter of innocent people by portraying it as no big deal. This is a common tactic of godless secularists—shove immorality into people’s faces via television shows until they lose their aversion to it and start to embrace it.   On the episode, Becky, distraught over rejection by an older man, has a fling with another boy, Luke. She's pregnant and initially wants an abortion, but Luke causes her to think more about it. Her mother had her as a teenager, and this also causes her to pause.   When Becky tells her mother, she’s furious and in favor of the abortion. Apparently, in their fictitious world, the state law mandates that the doctor tell them about the age of the baby—which upsets them—just not enough to dissuade them from going forward with the killing.   Before the abortion, Becky tells an adult friend, Tami, that she feels “weird” about it. Tami says that’s because “it’s a hard decision.” But why is it hard? If it’s just a surgery to remove some sort of foreign invader from one’s body, what’s so hard or weird about it?   Becky gives reasons why the abortion seems best: no money, still young, in school and the overused excuse that having a baby will “throw my life away.” Her mother’s insistence that she have the abortion also leads her to think, “I was her mistake and she has just struggled and hurt and everyday she wanted better.” What a sad thing for a daughter to feel about her own existence.   In a moment of clarity, Becky considers, “Maybe I could take care of this baby and maybe I would be good at it and I could love it and I would be there for it.” Once again, when the possibility of not killing the “product of conception” is discussed, there’s all of a sudden a “baby” involved. But as soon as abortion is decided upon, that “baby” reverts to being a pregnancy, clump of cells, fetus, embryo or any number of dehumanizing euphemisms.   She tragically concludes, “I can't take care of a baby. I can't.” Wait, a woman can’t do something? But I thought “reproductive rights” empowered women to do anything they want? Shouldn’t the feminist response then be, “Yes, you can”? Aren’t all of your options attainable? Of course, even if it were the case that she couldn’t take care of a baby, there are millions of couples who want to and absolutely could take care of a baby. Why not give a couple the gift of a child?   In the end, she tells the father, Luke, “It was the right choice.” What a warped world we live in where murdering a tiny, helpless child is “right.” 'Hope for Haiti Now' All-Star Digital Release Funnels Portion of Proceeds to Pro-Abortion UNICEF http://www.rockforlife.org/word_pressreleases.php?id=10351 2010-02-04 17:23:00 MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 03 February 2010 'HOPE FOR HAITI NOW' ALL-STAR DIGITAL RELEASE FUNNELS PORTION OF PROCEEDS TO PRO-ABORTION UNICEF Washington, DC (03 February 2010) –  The following is a statement from Erik Whittington, director of Rock for Life on MTV’s “Hope for Haiti Now” digital release and telethon. Proceeds will fund UNICEF – a United Nation’s program notorious for funding abortions, condoms and sterilization projects. “Hope for Haiti Now” featuring well-known artists such as Jay-Z, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, Alicia Keys, Neil Young, Christina Aguilera and others, was initiated by a phone call between George Clooney and MTV Networks. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the Haitian people who need food, water, medicine, housing and help rebuilding. The last thing Haitians need is UNICEF’s anti-life agenda of abortion, contraception, sterilization and sexual immorality. We will not let UNICEF’s despicable record of using humanitarian crisis to push their anti-life agenda go unnoticed and unchallenged.  “We implore MTV Networks to drop UNICEF from its list of non-profits receiving funds from the Hope for Haiti Now project. MTV has enough controversy on its hands already from pushing sexual immorality and abortion to the youth of America. You will not silence my message, you will not mock my God, you will stop killing my generation. WHY:  In the last year, human personhood efforts, led by a new generation of pro-lifers have swept the nation as a radically reignited movement to restore respect for the human rights due each human person from his or her biological beginning. Eight states have formally launched human personhood amendment campaigns to their state constitutions and dozens more are organizing initiatives. Rock for Life will bring together youth activists from across the nation to demand recognition of human rights for all human beings. CONTACT: Katie Walker 540.659.4942| kwalker@all.org
