HOME RUN DERBY WINNER STRIKES OUT FOR LIFE Posted: Friday July 13, 2007 at 5:04 pm EST by Erik Whittington
For each Los Angeles Angel's home game Vladimir Guerrero, winner of Major League Baseball's 2007 Home Run Derby contest, donates tickets for kids to sit in "Vlad's Pad." Click here to read the press release.
While a noble cause unfortunately one of the recipients to tonight's game is Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion chain.
Look's like the home run hitter really struck out on this one, eh?
Planned Parent hood is a crock. They don't deserve any donations. They do care if the kids that come in anyway have money. They all in those buildings are a waste of space. Karolyn Lord | July 14, 2007 11:24 am
If he only knew. J. Calungcagin | July 14, 2007 1:19 pm
planned parenthood disgusts me. and did you read where they get $305 million in tax dollars? k. hajdalenko | July 20, 2007 2:08 pm
I wonder if the player is aware of that??? Joseph | August 4, 2007 4:43 pm
Did you read where 305 million tax dollars is CHICKEN CHANGE??!?!? We spend more than that on ONE (as in singular, alone, 1) Stealth bomber. Trust me, that Stealth bomber kills WAY more babies...oops, I mean FOREIGN BABIES (apparently there's a difference since most of you seem to have no problem killing innocent people WITH HUGE BOMBS).
With love and tenderness,
Vlad
WWJB? (Who would Jesus Bomb?)
Vlad | August 5, 2007 9:16 pm
no i didn't read that. $305 million sounds like a lot of money. At least it does to me. How about we take a poll. Who hear thinks $305 is alot? Who thinks its Chicken Change?
I'm not aware of the cost. please send us a link. I'm sure that would be nifty to know. And I wasn't aware of Stealth Bombers killing babies. Please enlighten us as to how one of these machines makes the moral choice to bomb babies or not.
No one here is for killing babies - foreign or domestic. Although it is interesting you would bring that up on a pro-life blog. Are you insinuating that abortion might be killing as well?
WWJB? No one obviously. Do you know Jesus? Erik Whittington | August 7, 2007 3:16 pm
"Do you know Jesus?" Inside and out, dude. Do you? Because I wonder sometimes if you really get it. Vlad | August 27, 2007 7:29 pm
Vlad, Really?!?! I mean that is great that you do but to know someone you must know that He wants YOU to follow His Father's commandments. One which is not to murder, which abortion is. But you support it, so something has got to give. Erik Whittington | August 29, 2007 9:48 am
Erik, Jesus asks us not to blindly follow rules and commandments but to follow his teachings of compassion and understanding. I'll pray for you, even though it won't do anything. Vlad | September 3, 2007 9:40 pm
Vlad - Please show me in the Bible where it says that. Oh and about that prayer, sounds like you don't have much faith in prayer. Erik Whittington | September 4, 2007 10:57 am
hey vlad ill pray for you and i hope God works on your heart and mind to show you abortion is really wrong and it is murder love mandi mandi | October 16, 2007 3:16 pm
WHILE YOU ARE WAITING FOR YOUR ABORTION HOW ABOUT SOME WI-FI? Posted: Friday July 13, 2007 at 10:20 am EST by Erik Whittington
Yes sounds absurd but true. A Planned Parenthood in Des Moines is luring teens and college students (their biggest abortion customers) into their abortion facility with wi-fi. Click here to read more.
that is sick! its like getting an abortion has become a casual thing, like going to library...that is seriously disturbing. Fran | July 13, 2007 10:50 am
The first thing that comes to mind is disgusting! That is awful! They should be ashamed of themselves! Joe | July 13, 2007 11:29 am
Yeah cause abortion is just so casual, how sick has our society gotten? Kinda like Nazi Germany.. Devaluation of human life to the point its just an everyday thing to end it. How about some coffee hitler after we exterminate the parasites in our land or in our bodies. LIES! Brandon Cordon | July 13, 2007 11:29 am
Sick...hopefully they will research other options while they wait. Lynn Hawkins | July 13, 2007 11:44 am
It's just a way to make money. Those all those abortion "doctors" care about. They don't care about health. Adam Charles Hovey | July 13, 2007 2:24 pm
this is the most hideous thing I've heard in a while. How sneaky can you get?? Once again, this is just another way for them to boost their number of lower-class moms. So sick. Dorothy | July 13, 2007 5:20 pm
You're absolutely right Erik. I am absolutely certain that THIS is the thought process for many teens and college students: "Gee, I WANT to get an abortion, but if I can't surf the net while I wait, I guess I won't. Oh wow! There's an abortion clinic with free wifi while I wait? Count me in! Vlad | July 13, 2007 7:05 pm
Vlad - No that's not what is going on, its more like: "Wow, cool free wi-fi, never heard of PP before, don't care. I need free wi-fi." And then from there PP lures teens & college students into their abortion facilities and proceeds to introduce them to their sick twisted philosophy. Erik Whittington | July 14, 2007 8:32 am
they've changed their blog and it no longer says anything about wifi anony. | July 14, 2007 7:48 pm
Its very telling that this is advertised to youth in particular via a youth dominated mechanism (myspace). I read somewhere that those with less education (on average) use myspace in comparison to facebook, maybe this is why planned parenthood fits in so well there, after all, they do object to teaching he truth about abortion. Kelden | July 14, 2007 8:05 pm
Actually, a quick web search reveals that the particular clinic you are slamming as luring apparently stupid teenagers into getting abortions doesn't even PROVIDE ABORTIONS. See link below:
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/centerDetails.asp?id=567
And actually, I'm sure my husband would have liked free wi-fi very much while he was in the waiting room when I went in for my yearly check-up. johanna | July 15, 2007 3:01 pm
Well then should I rename the blog "While you were waiting for your abortion causing pills...?" or maybe "...waiting to be refered for an abortion to another Planned Parenthood abortion facility...?" Or ....
Do you get the point now, johanna? Erik Whittington | July 16, 2007 12:16 pm
anony, it's up here. Erik Whittington | July 16, 2007 12:23 pm
My point is that you've managed to whip up a frenzy among commenters here about how terrible it is that the kids these days are so blase about abortion that they look at Facebook while waiting to go into surgery. However, I'm sure the response would be much different if it was accurately presented that you could get wi-fi while waiting for your check-up or prescriptions . . . why would it be terrible to check my e-mail while waiting for an exam? Like I said in my previous post as well, companions to appointments who are waiting would certainly enjoy it. I don't think it warrants the moral fury displayed here (especially when you consider that the facility doesn't even provide abortion). Of course, I'm also of the school of thought that doesn't think BCPs cause abortions, so maybe it's lost on me... johanna | July 25, 2007 2:03 pm
They sure know how to bribe the "poor" and uneducated into believing their laws and deceitful ways. It's very sad. :-( Ashley | July 30, 2007 8:54 am
the frenzy is rightfully due because offering free wi-fi is PP's one and many marketing ploys to get young people into their building.
You present one side of PP while ignoring the other: abortion, so called "safe sex" products and a pro-sexual promiscuity philosophy.
Your school of thought regarding birth control pills is not based on science, but opinion. Human life begins at fertilization. Birth Control Pills and all forms of chemical contraception thins the lining of the uterus so if fertilization occures the newly created human being starves to death. That is abortion. And this is truth. All of which can be found in the Physician's Desk Reference. Erik Whittington | July 30, 2007 1:38 pm
I hope they can argue their case with God. Otherwise they will have a very long sentence to deal with. Jake | July 30, 2007 6:39 pm
SUMMER TOUR - POST CREATION/CORNERSTONE Posted: Thursday July 5, 2007 at 5:06 pm EST by Erik Whittington
We are right in the middle of week four on our 2007 Summer Tour. There are no major Christian music festivals on our schedule this week. So while I am back in the office, Phil and his crew are spending a week in Wisconsin leading and participating in various pro-life outreach events and hanging out with ourAmerican Life LeagueAssociate group,Pro-life Wisconsin.
Although this year we did not have our own stage atCornerstone, it was (like always) an amazing time for ministry. It seems the biggest thing to overcome in the battle to restore personhood to preborn babies is education—specifically the lack thereof. At Cornerstone we were able to inform many about the abortion-causing nature of birth control pills, as well as the devastating side effects of these artificial hormones. Many people didn’t even know how a baby develops in the womb. With our 4-D ultrasound DVDBaby Stepsplaying, the misinformation that many have about fetal development was quickly corrected.
One of the most interesting conversations we had was with a young lady who came up to our booth and read our display board which showing the number of abortions Planned Parenthood performs each week, the amount of tax dollars Planned Parenthood receives and the amount of profits Planned Parenthood makes each year. She told us that those numbers were all lies. She also claimed that Planned Parenthood doesn’t perform abortions and she should know because she works there. Little did she know that we are well-versed in the truth about Planned Parenthood and that the numbers we presented come from Planned Parenthood’s own reports. She was given my name and contact information, but I have a hunch she won’t be calling me anytime soon.
Speaking of pretty cool bands, theRFL TourfeaturingWillet, Ilia andAlakritykicked off Sunday night in Pennsylvania. Check out the tour dates and make sure to hit up a show if there is one in your area.
Finally, one of the biggest questions at Cornerstone was: “Why didn’t Rock for Life have a stage at Cornerstone this year?” It just didn’t work out this time but we are hoping to host one next year.
From Phil:
We arrived at theCreation Festivalgrounds late Monday night. After spending the night sleeping in line in the van, we were admitted early the next morning. We spent much of the day doing inventory and sorting literature, then set the booth up on Wednesday. The crowds were thick for the first two hours that the booth was open, but heavy storms soon sent most people scrambling for their camp sites. The next three days also saw their share of rain but the throngs of people swarming at our booth kept us busy. In addition to Jayne, Pat and myself, (Melissa was at Cornerstone Festival helping the second team), we had the help of Elisa (from Virginia), plus Ashley and Amber (both from Delaware). Elisa is now part of the traveling team and will be with us until late July.
There were a lot of memorable and interesting moments, including:
• Niki and Kirsta, who both started RFL chapters while at the fest. They helped out quite a bit at the booth and brought a great energy and excitement to our efforts there.
• Several young women who, after learning about the actual way in which hormonal birth control pills work, committed to stop taking them.
• While handing out literature to passersby, we handed a brochure to a young girl (probably 14 or 15) who smiled as she took it. Her (presumed) mother promptly ripped it out of her hands and slammed it down onto the table, glaring at us just before grabbing the girl by the hand and pulling her away. As she was being dragged away, the young girl grabbed the brochure and shoved it into her bag, smiling at us and giving us a thumbs-up before her mother turned to look at her. Our hope is that this young girl will be able to use her obvious passion to open the mind of the older woman with her.
• Five high school girls from eastern Pennsylvania stopped to watch the Baby Steps4-D ultrasound DVD and were so shocked by the rapid growth of a person inside the womb that they grabbed every piece of literature we had, promising to read it and spread the information in their school. They also signed up for the street team, and decided that they could easily commit to doing one pro-life action each month.
• Two teenage girls came up to argue about abortion “for cases like when the girl is poor or when she is raped.” They left with changed minds, realizing that defending the preborn in one instance demands that they be defended in all instances. Just as it is a ridiculous notion to free some slaves and not others, so is fighting only for the lives of the preborn who are conceived by well-off women in perfect and loving relationships.
• A 15-year-old girl stopped by and told us that she has a 5-month-old baby who she’s raising herself (with the support of her mother, who had also given birth at 15). We congratulated her on her positive attitude towards the life of her child and wished her and her child well.
• A mother brought her three children (one in high school, two in elementary) to watch the Baby Steps DVD. While the three children watched on in amazement, the mother broke down in tears and later told us that she had aborted her first child at approximately 10 weeks. Of course we tried to console her and told her about Rachel's Vineyard post-abortion healing programs.
Our time at Creation flew by, but these stories and many more will always be on our minds as we think back to the differences made in people’s lives during the festival.
Thanks again for all of your support. Please do continue to keep us in your prayers as this work, although very fulfilling, can be very taxing as well. Your continued prayers are really needed and definitely felt while on the road.
And please do prayerfully consider financially supporting this mission. As you can see, each and every week is full of great opportunities and huge success stories converting hearts and minds to the pro-life position. If you feel led to donate, you can do so online byclicking hereor sending a check to the address below. Again thank you so much. God bless!
Perhaps the mother who didn't want her child reading your information objects to others teaching her children about sex education. Vlad | July 9, 2007 3:30 pm
Erik and Phil: Praise God for the grace that He gives the world through you both! Joey | July 12, 2007 3:22 pm
The information she was objecting to was the truth about abortion. We don't have "sex education" information on our booth. Erik Whittington | July 14, 2007 9:13 am
I saw your guys booth at Creation. I took your literature and while I knew about abortion and knew how they worked, I went back to my tent and cried as I read through it. You guys are in a wonderful place for ministry and I pray that you can continue to change lives. Ronni | July 30, 2007 11:16 pm
"We don't have "sex education" information on our booth."
So you don't talk about Sex when you're talking about Abortions? How can you have an abortion without having sex, Erik? Some parents want to be the SOLE educators on the sexual front for their child...especially those who throw phrases like 'family values' around. Vlad | August 5, 2007 9:08 pm
Of course we talk about it, but not in the context of what you think. It's pretty simple - if you don't want to get pregnant and catch a myraid of diseases let alone deal with heartbrake, don't do it. We also talk about it in the way that Planned Parenthood and other sexual promiscuity organizations push it down young peoples throats. Erik Whittington | August 7, 2007 3:25 pm
Vlad,
I am a bit confused. Are you saying that families who are the SOLE educator on sex for their children are bad? Because I learned about sex through my parents and I turned out fine. I think being able to talk to my parents honestly and openly about sex is far more educational then playing pin the tail on the banana. Just saying. Oh and when Erik said We don't have Sex Ed info at our booth, He just meant we don't carry pamphlets around. We DO talk about Sex though. Like you said it is unavoidable. I hope I made sense. Lisa | August 8, 2007 11:33 pm
